Most of the State of Maine is classified as being in the "highest" category of natural radon concentrations Radon can vary widely from region to region - even house to house. A radon test will give you reassurance.
Because of these factors, it is recommended that homeowners test the air in their homes for radon.
Additionally, the State of Maine, by law, requires that all rental housing have a radon test by Jan.uary, 2012.
Testing can be done easily and inexpensively from $99 to $149. A radon test will let your know if you need to consider radon mitigation.
If concentrations are found to be high, radon mitigation can be successfully accomplished generally from between $1200 to $2100.
